    Children's Day Celebration @ GRPS

There was a concert for the pupils after the pledge taking ceremony and several of the P2 teachers put up a performance.  Here's what they said...

    Teacher A
La, la, la, la, laa... (horrible singing)
    Hi everybody!
I'm a teacher you know well but long ago before I was a teacher I wanted to be a ballet dancer. Sigh! But I kept flling and so I had to switch career. Can you guess who I am?

    Teacher B
Hi everybody! I do not want to be a ballet dancer like the previous teacher. If you keep really quiet, you will hear my talents. Are you ready? (Opera singing followed by glass shattering sound)
As you can see I wasn't very successful. That's when I wrote in to be a teacher. Who am I?

    Teacher C
I can't sing but I can be anything I want to be when I'm on stage.
    "Ohhhh! I've been shot! Ahhhh!"
    Let's try it again.
Cut! Cut Cut! Horrible acting! That did not look dramatic enough. Again.
    Scene 101. Take 207.
Sigh! After the 250th take I lost my voice and my career. I then decided to take on my second choice career. That's when I became a teacher.

    Teacher D
I love cooking exotic dishes for my friends and I was really good at baking. Everyone loved my superhard bubblegum cookies with fried grasshopper as toppings. But one day... as I was baking... (Explosion)
That's when I decided baking was just not for me.
So I walked to GRPS and became a teacher.

    Teacher E
I love running and anything to do with sports. I try to dribble the basketball but it always runs away and when I jump, I usually have to visit the doctor after that. As you can see, being a professional basketball player was the 'perfect' job for me except for one tiny little problem... I was just too short. So, I became a teacher which is a job with no height requirements.

Reflections for Sandwich Making Competition (Pri 2 Kindness)

I was very excited because I love to make things. I used tomato sauce, cheese, tuna, lettuce, bread and margarine. When I was done with my sandwich, I did not eat it because I wanted to give it to my father for his birthday. When he ate it, he said it was delicious. I was glad he liked it.

I was very excited about making a sandwich by myself. I spread the tuna and lettuce and I was done. I made it for my Mum and I felt happy about it.

When I started making the sandwich, I felt so hungry and excited. I put the lettuce and cheese on my bread. I did not spread the margarine because I do not like it. My sandwich was delicious.

My First Day Being A Pledge-taker

My First Day Being A Pledge-taker

On 14 August 2007, was my first day being a pledge taker. I was surprised when Mdm Zuleha called me. I thought that she wanted to scold me but to my surprise she wanted me to try the pledge taking. So I started practicing.

At last I finished memorizing the lyrics of the national and school pledge. Afterwards, I went up the stage. There is a girl named Giowanne who accompanied me when I went up the stage.

First, I was nervous but suddenly, I realized that it was easy memorizing the words. From that day onwards, I am proud to become a pledge taker. I wish that I can be a pledge taker when I am in secondary school.

Speech and Drama by Acropolis English Centre Pte Ltd

This is an English enrichment programme that is introduced in Term 3.  The students are taught the essential skills towards improving their speech and in performing drama. It is indeed an activity that the students enjoyed and looked forward to every week.

One of the lessons was on learning to express themselves with words and without words (mime).

The students were asked to change words in the script to express different types of feelings and content and this essentially taps on their creativity and self-expression skills.

    Sandwich Making Competition (2 Honesty)

It was a truly an enjoyable time for all students of 2 Honesty. The students had the hand-on experience in making their own sandwiches from basic ingredients like bread, tuna, margarine, mayonnaise, lettuce, cucumber and egg.  Some of the best sandwiches were chosen for competition among the groups and the best sandwich was selected. The students were also responsible for the cleaning up which they did very well. Finally, the students ate their own sandwiches which they unanimously agree were extremely delicious!
